Fire Investigations Division

Overview

All fire investigations are conducted in accordance with the guidelines and current adopted standards of NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations and NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator.


If needed the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office will be contacted to assist or conduct the investigation.


Fire Investigator

This position is responsible for managing and directing the department fire investigations program of the Polk County Fire Department, and serve as liaison with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and other duties related to fire investigations. This position is a volunteer position.


Those who serve in the role of Fire Investigator are required to be certified as a NPQ Fire Investigator (completed and passed Fire Investigator - Module 2), Meet the job performance requirements of NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, and other guidelines set forth in the departments standard operating guidelines.


Arson

If you have information that could lead to an arrest and conviction involving the use of fire to intentionally and maliciously destroy property you could receive a reward. Learn more at Georgia Arson Control
