E-911 Communications Center -

Where Help Begins

Polk County E911 operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This center consists of four 12 hour shifts that operate 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.  Fully staffed, the E911 Center consists of a Shift Supervisor and 3 Communication Officers per shift, a 911 Director and a 911 Assistant Director.  The E911 Division handles communications for all law enforcement agencies within the county, city and county fire departments, and emergency medical services.  They are:   
 

  •    Aragon Police Department
  •    Cedartown Police Department
  •    Cedartown Fire Department
  •    Rockmart Police Department
  •    Rockmart Fire Department
  •    Polk County Sheriff's Office
  •    Polk County Police Department
  •    Polk County Fire Department
  •    Advent Health Emergency Medical Services

 


The Center also handles forestry calls, EMA calls, animal control calls, and other miscellaneous type calls.

  Qualifications for position in the E911 Division:
 

  •    High School Diploma or GED
  •    18 years of age
  •    Valid Driver's License
  •    Criminal History
  •    Driver's History
  •    Background Investigation
  •    Pre-employment Drug Screening
  •    Physician's Exam For POST

 

 Certifications required for Communications Officers:

 

  •    Basic Communications Officer Certification through POST
  •    CPR
  •    Emergency Medical Dispatch
  •    Georgia Criminal Information Center
  •    National Incident Management System
  •    And Continuing Education as required/needed
